Are you asking yourself - Why is there only one story time in May? Where are those multiple wonderful programs that our library offers every month?
The answer is ---your librarians are completing the programs for the Spring "season" and in May reduce the number of public programs in order to prepare for the BIG Summer Reading Program. Part of our time is dedicated to finalizing details for programs and presentations, some of it is taken by double checking supplies and equipment that will be used for the summer, and some time is spent in creative communication and planning, as we prepare to decorate the library for our summer theme. During May, librarians will visit all of our area elementary and middle schools, giving talks to assembilies and classes, to invite children to our summer programs. We want ALL area children to attend our fun programs and keep reading all summer.
The theme for the Children's Summer Reading Program is Catch The Reading Bug, for the Teens , Metamorphosis, and for Adults, Life in The Pages. Purcell branch will host programs every week except July 4th week for all three age groups--and wrap up with a fun end of summer reading celebration on the front lawn.
The Pioneer Library System Summer touring programs are already on the calendar so be sure to check them out.
