Do you have fines on library materials? Did you miss Library Amnesty Weekend on October 4th and 5th? Or maybe you have built up another stack of overdue books next to the television?
Here is an easy way for you, teens, to get rid of those fines. All you have to do is read in the Norman library during the week of Oct. 12-18 from 4pm to 8pm and earn coupons used to waive fines*.
For each hour of reading you earn $4 credit or $1 credit per 15 minutes. Any print material is accepted, including graphic novels or comic books.
The rules are:
1)Sign in at the Information desk
2)Read in the Teen area in full view of a librarian
3)Sign out at the Information desk and receive coupons
4)Redeem coupons at circulation desk the same day as reading session (coupons will be dated)Why is Norman Public library offering to waive fines for reading? Because we want to give you and opportunity to clear your account before October 15th, 2008. After this date, the Unique National Collections agency will start contacting you. In order to retrieve our lost and missing materials, the agency will start contacting card-holders with overdue materials and fines over 60 days old. So get those books in and clear your account!
*Reading will reduce existing overdue fines only, not losses or damages, and may not count toward future fines.
