Pioneer Library System

Pioneer Library System customers can reduce their existing library fines and help feed the hungry in their communities by taking advantage of the Food for Fines program.

The special event runs November 30 through December 6 in all of the hometown libraries. Any non-perishable food item brought into the library that week is worth $1 in reduction of existing library fines. Each item is worth $1 up to a maximum of $20 in fine reductions.

The Food for Fines donations apply only to existing library fines. The program does not apply to customer charges for lost or damaged materials, nor can it be used to settle debts that have been turned over to the Unique Management collection agency or to pay service fees associated with debt collection.

Public libraries in Blanchard, McLoud, Moore, Newcastle, Noble, Norman, Purcell, Shawnee, and Tecumseh will be accepting non-perishable, non-expired, unopened, undamaged food items during the Food for Fines campaign.

Donations are going to the following organizations:

• In Blanchard, Blanchard Lions Club holiday basket program
• In McLoud, McLoud Food Pantry
• In Moore, Brand Senior Center.
• In Newcastle, Christian Church food pantry
• In Noble, the Maguire Farm Store Angel Tree project
• In Norman, the Salvation Army
• In Shawnee, the Salvation Army
• In Purcell, the McClain Country Operation Christmas
• In Tecumseh, Highland Church of Christ food pantry.

Library card holders can contact the library to see if they have existing fines. They can also go online and check the status of their accounts by signing in with their library card number and their personal PIN. For more information, contact the library.
