Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard, and Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster, the two largest hometown libraries in the Pioneer Library System, will be open Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. year-round beginning June 1.
Both communities have expressed a desire for extended library hours. As a result of increased funding now available to the library system after successful millage elections, Sunday summer hours are possible. Increases in hours of operation for other libraries in the system are under consideration to be implemented beginning in September 2008, said Anne Masters, Director of Pioneer Library System.
Previously, both Moore and Norman libraries were open 68 hours a week September through May and 64 during the summer months; now they will be open 68 hours a week year round. The new hours of operation for both libraries are: Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 pm.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
