Hello Visitor,
|
|
| |
This holiday, ELF is on its way
Starting December 6, you will be able to buy your favorite little internet surfer the perfect gift. ELF (Elementary Learning Fun) is a kid friendly safe internet browser you can purchase from your hometown library for only $5.00!
The ELF browser comes on a USB drive with a special gift tag. Technical requirements for computers to run ELF are: any version of Microsoft Windows™, 25 MB of free disk space & an internet connection.
Once installed you & your child can safely surf the web & view content appropriate for ages 2 - 10. Updates are automatic & there's nothing you need to do once the software is installed.
Be sure to ask your librarian about ELF.

Big Read 2011
In Spring 2011, the Pioneer Library System will be hosting the popular Big Read. The 2011 Big Read book will be The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.
The things they carried is a patchwork account of a modern journey into the heart of darkness that was the Vietnam War. The book looks at the heroic young men who fought the war & the emotional weight it played on their lives.
In preparation for the event PLS is sponsoring a song writing contest. The winning song will be featured on the PLS Big Read website & those submitting it will win $250. Visit the Big Read website to learn more.
