“Fancy Nancy” illustrator coming to the Moore Public Library

The Moore Public Library welcomes illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser, of the “Fancy Nancy” series, for a visit to the library at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.

She’ll be talking about the latest book in the series, “Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century” and all of the books in the popular series.

Glasser has worked with author Jane O’Connor on the series, which began with the 2005 book “Fancy Nancy” that spent almost two years on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Moore to host Back to School Health Fair

The Moore Public Library is partnering with several local community organizations to help families get ready for the upcoming school year at its Back to School Health Fair, starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in Rooms A and B of the library, 225 S. Howard Ave.

The event will feature information on healthy living for children and families, health screenings, giveaways of free items and more.

Moore offers many favorites for children and families in August

Even though summer is wrapping up, the Moore Public Library’s Children’s Department still has plenty going on, from a variety of programming for children and families to its extension of collection of books, DVDs and materials for the library’s youngest guests.

The upcoming programming schedule in August features many family favorites, including:

Family Story Time – activities, stories and more for the whole family – 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 and 16.

Moore group to discuss “Flight Behavior”

The Moore Reads book discussion group continues its monthly series of discussions at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in the Conference Room of the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard Ave.

This month's book selection will be "Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver.

The group is for ages 18 and up and generally meets the fourth Thursday of the month. Copies of each month's selected book can be picked up at the library's Information Desk.
