Moore hosts presentation by debut author

The Moore Public Library hosts “An Evening with Constance Squires,” a discussion of the author’s work and her debut novel, “Along the Watchtower,” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, in Room A of the library, 225 S. Howard Ave.
The presentation is for ages 12 and up.
While this is her first novel, Squires is no newcomer to the writing world. The Edmond resident has written fiction short stories that have been published in numerous journals and won awards including the 2007 Matt Clark Prize for Fiction by the New Delta Review, the 2004 Bob Shacochis Award for the Short Story and the Briar Cliff Review 2004 Fiction Award. She teaches in the MFA program m in Creative Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma.
And the book itself already is a winner of an important award, claiming the title in the Fiction category at this year's Oklahoma Book Awards, presented by the Oklahoma Center for the Book.

Make your Amazon Kindle device work with the Pioneer Library System’s digital offerings with help from a class at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in Room B of the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard Ave.
Kevin Mix of the PLS Virtual Library will lead the program, which will give attendees a lesson downloading eBooks, information on which devices are compatible with Pioneer’s downloadable formats and much more.
This class will focus specifically on the Kindle, one of a number of eReaders and mobile devices that are compatible with the Overdrive system used by the PLS Virtual Library.

Get into the world of eBay with Moore computer classes
Learn more about the online marketplace eBay with a pair of free classes being offered at the Moore Public Library.
The library will host a class on “eBay Basics: Buying” at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 18. A week later staff follows up with “eBay Basics: Selling,” at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 25.

Moore sets May computer class schedule
The Moore Public Library has announced its schedule for free computer classes for May.
Registration is required for each class, and can be done by calling the Information Desk at the library at 793-4349, visiting the library, or registering online at the Events Calendar here .

Have a technology problem that’s got you stumped? Did you finally get one of those new gadgets that everyone else has, only to find out you don’t know how to use it?
The Moore Public Library is here to help with a new service, “Technology One on One,” which will kick off from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 225 S. Howard Ave.
The library will continue offering the sessions at the same time each Wednesday. Sessions are free and open to the public. Help will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required.
