The Moore Public Library hosts a beginning class in Learning Self Defense, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Rooms A and B of the library, 225 S. Howard Ave.
Sgt. Jim Tucker of the University of Oklahoma Police Department will lead the class, teaching basic self-defense skills including cover awareness, prevention and dealing with tools and weapons.
Sgt. Tucker also will discuss in detail using physical or deadly force against an intruder (commonly called the stand your ground law) and will answer general questions about other related laws like the Oklahoma Self Defense Act.
The class is for ages 18 and up, and registration is required in advance to attend.
