The August 2012 edition of ‘Staff Selections’ is a sizzling effort by Nelson, an Information Services Librarian at Norman Public Library. “My selections reflect the hot summer nights we have around here,” he says, “and I’m not talking about the weather report, if you catch my drift (wink!).”
Nelson was born and raised outside of Washington, D.C. and attended Averett University in Virginia. He then moved out west to pursue a Master’s degree in Theatre at Oklahoma City University with a concentration in Shakespeare (whom he calls “the King of Romance”) and earned a second Master’s at the University of Oklahoma in Library and Information Studies. “That’s three different colleges and a whole lotta lovin’ (books), my friend!” he quips.
Nelson’s reading tastes include mystery, fiction, westerns, non-fiction – and romance. All of his suggestions come from the Norman Library’s Romance collection. “Are you ready to read all about the real heat this summer?” he says. “Get yourself a tall glass of water, because you’ll need to cool off after these reads!”
Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt
“Successful and charming river pirate Mickey O'Connor is a man who gets what he wants, but his pursuit of widowed Silence Hollingbrook is complicated by a threat from a merciless enemy.”
Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
“R.S.V.P. to the most riotous wedding of the year. Lucy Jorik is the daughter of a former president of the United States. Meg Koranda is the offspring of legends. One of them is about to marry Mr. Irresistible—Ted Beaudine—the favorite son of Wynette, Texas.
The other is not happy about it and is determined to save her friend from a mess of heartache. Then, things really heat up!”
Maybe This Time by Jennifer Cruise
“Andie Miller is ready to move on with her life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But when Andie tries to gain closure with him, he asks one final favor of her. Is the favor too much?”
Summer Nights by Susan Mallery
“Horse whisperer Shane Stryker, who is looking for a sensible woman who will be content with the quiet life of a rancher's wife, sets his sights on small-town librarian Annabelle Weiss, who has a wild side that tests his resolve. Yes! Librarians can sizzle!”
