While it’s still several months away, teens in Purcell will commemorate el Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) with the Purcell Public Library, at a program at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the Meeting Room of the library, 919 N. Ninth St.
Teens will make sugar skull-designed planters using flower pots, sharpie markers and paint. They also will learn more about the importance of the holiday, which originated in Mexico and is celebrated in various other cultures around the world at the end of October.
The holiday ties in with this summer's night theme for the Teen Summer Reading Challenge, "Own the Night."
Supplies will be provided by the library for the program, and registration is not required to attend.
