The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern

Author of P. S. I Love You, Cecelia Ahern contemplates the unexplainable in her novel The Book of Tomorrow.  Life has dealt Tamara Goodwin several life-altering blows in the last year and she isn’t handling the changes very well.  Bored, angry, and depressed, the sixteen-year-old and her distanced mother are living with family in the countryside of Ireland.  While looking at books in the local library mobile, Tamara comes across a magical book that writes the future of Tamara’s life for the next day.  What she uncovers is a complicated mystery about herself and her family.

Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife by Even Alexander, M.D.

This is the third book I have read about heaven being real; it is the most difficult to understand.  Dr. Alexander goes into great detail to explain why his brain shut down and why, therefore, he could not have been hallucinating about heaven.  He seems to be a medical miracle and delivers a convincing report to both believers and non-believers. It’s worth the read.

A Certain October by Angela Johnson

The first section of this teen book is entitled, “Sometimes Tofu is Just Tofu,” and that pretty much sums up the whole story for sixteen year old Scotty.  So much happens in this young girl’s life in a short time span, yet she does learn that sometimes life just isn’t fair; you just have to live with it.
