Shawnee Public Library
Get the Summer Reading Program started with several upcoming kickoff programs at the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Teens began their “Beneath the Surface” summer theme at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, by creating underground art and deep sea treasures among several activities in the afternoon.
Teens will have activities planned on Wednesday afternoons throughout the summer.
Tweens, ages 9 to 11, will get their summer at the library started at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, by making their own terrariums they then can take home.
Supplies will be limited, so those interested need to sign up through staff at the library or by calling 275-6353.
And the popular Children’s Summer Reading Program signups will run all day Tuesday, June 4, as children begin a summer of activities and programs with this summer’s theme of “Dig Into Reading.”
This year’s Summer Reading Program is presented with the support of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Oklahoma Arts Council, Hitachi Computer Products of America, The Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, Sonic, Kirkpatrick Family Fund, the Pioneer Library System Foundation and Friends of the Library groups throughout the Pioneer Library System.
