There's a new book club in town, and you have a chance to become a member! Mary Sims, Teen Librarian at the Shawnee Public Library, has helped establish a teen book discussion club at Shawnee Middle School.
The members choose a book to read every month and then meet for group discussion and refreshments. The first title choice, chosen to celebrate Banned Books Week, was How To Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell. Fun was had by all as they talked about the book and chomped down on the fried worms adorning delicious cupcakes. The next book is The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman.
For information about joining the after-schoool group, contact Mary Sims at the Shawnee Public Library or Shawnee Middle School.
