The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library and the University of Oklahoma Confucian Institute are partnering on a family-oriented story time titled “Chinese Storytelling with Cartoons,” set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the library, 2201 SW 134th St.
Cartoonist James Yang will lead the story time, utilizing his own Chinese style comic illustration to accompany each storytelling journey and explore the most popular Chinese idioms, fairy tales, folklores and anecdotes of famous Chinese historical figures.
Similar story times are scheduled later this fall in the Moore and Noble branches of the Pioneer Library System, and Yang also has presented already at the Norman Public Library.
The University of Oklahoma Confucius Institute endeavors to build strong relations between the people of the South Central U.S. and the people of China, enhancing understanding and mutual respect. It is a partnership established in 2006 between Beijing Normal University and OU.
