Since beginning her library career three decades ago, Susan Goldsberry has seen many things change inside the library’s walls.
One that hasn’t is her dedication to service as a fixture at the Tecumseh Public Library.
She will soon be going in a new direction in her life as Goldsberry, the library’s Branch Manager for nearly a decade, has announced her retirement effective this month.
She will be honored for her efforts at a come-and-go reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the library, 114 N. Broadway. All members of the community are invited.
Goldsberry began her career with the Pioneer Library System is 1982, working continuously with the system since that time except for a brief stint working at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee.
She has been the Branch Manager at the Tecumseh Public Library since December of 2004, when she replaced Jan Anthony.
During her tenure as branch manager, the library has grown in circulation to more than 20,000 items owned, almost double the amount from when she took over as branch manager. The library serves nearly 6,000 cardholders, quite an accomplishment in a city that actually had a population of 6,457 at the 2010 Census.
