Financial Fitness

The Pioneer Library System is among the public libraries and systems nationwide that have been selected for a Smart investing@your library® grant from the American Library Association and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Investor Education Foundation

Inside its libraries, PLS offers free informational brochures and guides on such topics as saving money for college, building a better credit report, keeping a budget, and fighting investor fraud. This information is also available through the PLS site at justsoyouknow.us/financialfitness.

Entrepreneurship 101

team of five business meetingHave you ever wondered if starting your own business is right for you? The Pioneer Library System will be hosting three half-day trainings intended for emerging entrepreneurs and will take attendees through the many steps of business ownership, from where to begin to what services are available to assist new business start-ups.  Topics to be covered include:  Small Business Registration and Taxes, Business Plan Basics, Marketing Demographics and Funding.  These trainings are scheduled for 9:30 - 12:30 at the following locations:

Norman Public Library - May 9
Southwest OKC Library - June 4
Purcell Public Library - June 5

All three programs are free and open to the public.  Click on the link of the particular class in the Upcoming Events section of this newsletter to register and reserve your place at this valuable training.

Focus on Job Skills

May is Focus on Job Skills month at the Norman Public Library Computer Training Center. As the school year winds down, many people will be looking for work. The Computer Training Center can help with your success.
In addition to basic computer use skills, Word Processing and Excel, the Computer Training Center will offer:

Ace that Interview on May 9 at 6 pm
Resume Review on May 17 at 6 pm
Professional Blogging on May 28 at 9:30 am
Professional Networking (LinkedIn & Facebook) on May 29 at 6 pm
Building a Google Website on May 30 at 6 pm
