top ten booksTeen Read WeekTM is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It began in 1998 and is held annually during the third week of October. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users.

In 2013, it will be celebrated Oct. 13-19, with the theme of Seek the Unknown @ Your Library. Teen Read Week 2013 will be celebrated at thousands of public and school libraries, classrooms, and bookstores across the country. Check with your hometown library for special Teen Read Week programs.
