Big Read 2010 - The Maltese Falcon
|
In the past you enjoyed Pioneer Library System Big Read activities featuring the classics, The Grapes of Wrath, Bless Me ,Ultima and To Kill a Mockingbird. This year we invite you back for the 2010 Big Read.
This year we explore Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon March 12-April 30. The Big Read project, a nationwide reading initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Arts Midwest, Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, and the Norman Arts Council is designed to promote literary reading among adults.

Come to the Kick-Off - March 12
|
Come celebrate the Big Read Kick-Off on March 12 at 6 p.m. during the Norman 2nd Friday Circuit of Art!
Dress in costume to get into the film noir spirit. Period attire was dark lipsticks and feathered hats,

or fedoras and trench coats.
An array of art galleries, studios, restaurants, & other Main Street venues will be open late to welcome visitors.

Join the Discussion - March 13
| Saturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. a keynote panel discussion will be held at the University of Oklahoma Law School. Moderator, David Draper Clark, and crime novel enthusiasts Jim Davis, Bill Hagen, and David Kipen will take a closer look at the crime classic The Maltese Falcon and discuss |

its characters, themes, symbolism, and why it is more than just a whodunit. The Keynote Panel Discussion, The Maltese Falcon: The Plot Thickens, is free and open to the public.
