Branch Manager Position
                                
Location:    Norman Public Library/Pioneer Library System
                
Salary:         Full-time position; 40 hours per week
                           Annual salary: $50,532 base (Grade 12), based on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package

     Open until filled-1st interviews will begin after May 12, 2014

Job Requirements:
          Master’s degree in Library Science from a graduate school accredited by the
            American Library Association preferred,
          Five years relevant library-related experience,
          Three years supervisory experience,
          Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
          Ability to obtain a valid OK driver’s license.
          Lift up to 25 lbs., retrieve/replace items from floor level to at least 5 ½ feet high. 
          Work a flexible schedule which will include evenings and weekends. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
          Ability to plan, organize and control library operations;
          Demonstrates supervision and management principles;
          Displays collaborative leadership skills and talents;
          Conceptualizes and implements strategic plans;
          Exhibits a user-focused customer service philosophy;
          Mentors and directs growth and development of staff;
          Maintains a high level of ethical standards, integrity, honesty,
            trust, and accountability;

          Stays informed of current developments which may impact the delivery of all
           library services; 
          Acts as liaison between administration, branch staff, and Friends of the Library;
          Establishes staff performance goals and measurements;
          Ensures opportunities for continuing education and training;
          Participates in system-wide committees and initiatives;
          Effective project management and planning;
          Demonstrates a commitment to the library’s mission;
          Fosters community partnerships and services for diverse communities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:    Part-time hourly position.  Hours will vary weekly based on Branch/Department demands. Must be available to work a flexible schedule which will include evenings and weekends, in addition up to two weeks of “Mandatory New Hire Orientation & Training” located at the Norman Administrative Offices.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Sorts and shelves library materials; empties drop boxes and checks in materials; answers directional questions and assists customers in finding materials; assists staff with circulation tasks when needed; maintains an orderly and neat library environment; performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1.    Education and/or experience:
a.    No previous experience required;
b.    Previous library and customer service experience preferred;
c.    High school diploma or GED;
d.    Or may be a current high school student;
e.    Must be 16 years or older.
