The Computer Training Center of the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster in downtown Norman, offers a free resume-writing workshop on Wednesday, January 20, at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required.
The Great Resumes workshop is led by Conni Eckstein who has personal experience with both sides of the job-hunting experience.
“I've worked for over 30 years as both an engineer and a small business owner. I've had responsibilities for selecting candidates for interviews and then being a part of the interview and selection process. I've also been a candidate looking for work. I've learned how to maneuver an electronic resume submission successfully,” Eckstein said.
Eckstein advises workshop participants to bring their personal information—education, work history, and professional goals—to get started on crafting an effective resume during the class. She will also guide participants through the process of searching for and applying for jobs online.
“I want to give back to those who have lost a job or have had to return to work because of the current economy. I am very thankful to have a good job that has not been impacted by the economy. I appreciate the value of having a great resume. I would not have been selected to interview for my current position without one. I hope the class will be inspired to appreciate their accomplishments and have the confidence to put them on a resume,” Eckstein said.
