Teens visiting their Pioneer hometown library and checking out any book from the Teen Collection will receive a free comic book (while supplies last) May 7th to celebrate the 10th year of Free Comic Book Day. All 9 hometown libraries will be participating in free comic book day.
Free Comic Book Day has been an international celebration since 2002. The event is a single day when participating comic book shops and libraries around the world give away books to promote interest in the comic and graphic novel formats. The libraries join thousands of comic book shops around the world celebrating the comic book art form.
Comic books began in the 1930s as a unique American art form that has grown - like so many American forms of entertainment - to spread around the globe. Over the decades, comics have changed entertainment and challenged perceptions. These days, there are comic books for every taste, from slam-bang super-hero adventures and thoughtful slice-of-life to thrilling science fiction and intense drama.
New to the concept of comic books...check out these comic books before you receive a free issue on May 7th.
