The Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia, will have the Visual Literacy: Picturing America program Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m.
The Pioneer Library System is sponsoring this touring program to its three-county community offering an entertaining look at America’s history through its art, as well as an opportunity to learn how to interpret what the eye sees. The program is a combination of the National Endowment for the Arts Picturing America project and an expert’s easy-to-understand explanation of visual communication and visual literacy.
The program will present elements of visual literacy in an informal way and will include interactive components so the audience is involved rather than lectured to, said Jason Dupree Southwestern Oklahoma State University professor and program presenter. |

Hello everyone!
My name is Karen Bays. I am happy to be working with you as the new Pottawatomie County Coordinator / Shawnee Branch Manager for Pioneer Library System.
I come to PLS from the Metropolitan Library System, in Oklahoma County, where I worked for the last seventeen years.
I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from the outstanding staff at PLS, and I’m looking forward to building on the great progress already made toward ensuring that citizens of Pottawatomie County have access to quality library services and programs.
