While you are rushing around doing your holiday shopping, don't forget to pick up a library book . . . at the mall!

The Shawnee Mall, 4901 N. Kickapoo, now has a library service point with book boxes to pick up reserved books and a drop box to return library materials. To celebrate and share the beginning of the new service, Shawnee Library and Shawnee Mall customers and friends are invited to gather at the mall just east of the food court on the south side of the corridor on Friday, December 4, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Steven Streetman, popular guitarist, will play holiday and popular music. Crafts will be available for children. A library customer may visit the catalog online and request a book by “placing a hold.” Customers will log in with their 14 digit library card number and 4 digit pin number. To pick up materials at the mall, you select the Shawnee Mall as “pick up location.”

You will be notified by phone, email, or traditional mail when your hold is available for pick-up.

Wait until AFTER noon to pick up materials at the Book Box. If checking status online, “on hold shelf” means your item will be delivered the next day; “checked out” means your item is at the Book Box. Items are checked out to a customer the day it is placed in Book Box.

When at the mall picking up materials at the Book Box, type in the last 7 digits of your library card number. A box will pop open and you can receive your materials. Instructions will be posted at the Book Box.
