You’ve often heard it said, “Use it, or lose it.” Now, adults 18 years and older have the opportunity to get out of the house and stimulate their minds with a morning of fun at the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia, on Thursday, October 15, beginning at 10 a.m.

This adult program requires no pre-registration and is the first in a series of three special Mind Game Days to be announced. Librarians say there will have crossword puzzles, cards, Wii, PS2, dominoes, puzzles and sodoku to explore. Sodoku is a logic based, number placement puzzle. Wii is a video game console as is PS2 (PlayStation 2).

“Games are educational. They involve critical thinking, problem solving, and a constant learning cycle based on hypothesizing, experimenting and evaluating. Some videogames are healthy, such as the Wii,” said Shawnee information services librarian, Lisa Lempges. “Gaming has recreational value. It’s fun, entertaining, and cathartic as well as social,” she said.
