Babygarten™ series to debut in Tecumseh Print

ReadingThe Tecumseh Public Library is targeting its youngest future readers with a program beginning next month that is new for the library and the Pioneer Library System.

The library will host a Babygarten™ storytime series, beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, and running each Tuesday at that time for six weeks at the library, 114 N. Broadway Ave.

The series is an educational curriculum designed for children up to 18 months old and their caregivers. The interactive storytime will feature rhymes, songs, a craft and playtime used to encourage pre-literacy skills in babies. It also aims to teach parents how and why to read to their babies.

Tecumseh Children’s Librarian Sue Walker will lead each week’s program.

Tecumseh resumes Toddler Story Time Print

childrenAfter a break for the summer, the Tecumseh Public Library’s Toddler Story Time returns at 11 a.m. Thursday mornings, beginning Aug. 12.

The weekly special story time series includes songs, stories, and fingerplays for little people and their caregivers.

It is part of the library’s Growing Like a Read program, a project of the library system that promotes brain development for literacy skills in children from birth through age 4 through reading, talking, playing and singing. The program is funded through a grant from the Inasmuch Foundation.

Growing Like a Read participants will be eligible to have their names entered in a semi-annual drawing for a savings bond.

Kids can enjoy story time more than ever at the Tecumseh Library, which will now be hosting a toddler story time EVERY Thursday at 11! The story times include books, songs, and fingerplays and are desgined for children and parents to enjoy together. Participants may also enroll in the Growing Like a Read program, which encourages reading readiness skills.
